Fundraising

Thank you for helping us support OA/TOF children and adults all over the world

Want to raise funds for TOFS?  Great!  We’ve a full fundraising guide here.  It includes quite a range of things you could do, organise, or join in with:

  • An easy idea – set up a fundraiser on Facebook for your birthday;
  • Another easy one – invite friends and relatives to play YourCharitylottery to benefit TOFS;
  • Nominate TOFS to be your employer’s (or your club’s) “Charity of the Year” (etc);
  • Loads of ideas for things you can organise yourself to raise money;
    • Simple activities, like a Birthday Fundraiser or a coffee morning;
    • Virtual activities like an online Quiz or “dry January” competition;
    • Things that take a bit more organising like a school non-uniform day or a dinner dance;
  • Organised challenges you might take part in. We have a few places most years for -
    • the London Marathon;
    • the Great North Run.
  • TOFS- led virtual events: take part from home in our family-friendly Teddy Toddle, for instance.

The TOFS fundraising guide also covers:

  • Hints and tips for raising the most you reasonably can, whatever you do;
  • Info about using a fundraising page – our favourite is People’s fundraising;
    • We’re on Virgin Money Giving, Facebook fundraisers, and JustGiving too;
  • A TOFS sponsorship form – sometimes useful as well as a fundraising page;
  • How to get money to TOFS (if not via a fundraising page) & looking after cash;
  • Pointers about keeping yourself safe and legal, especially if you are organising an activity;
    • We don’t want anyone getting hurt, so put safety first;
    • Quite a lot of activities need a licence, check this out first;
  • Other ideas, like remembering TOFS in your will, or inviting grandparents / great grandparents to consider this.

The TOFS office can help your efforts to be even more effective by sending you TOFS balloons, T shirts, TOFS baseball caps, money-collection boxes, etc.  We can also send TOFS running vests.

Please ensure that any fundraising you do is to high ethical standards, legal and safe.  TOFS can’t take responsibility for you organising an event, or for you taking part in someone else’s event, so be careful, and make sure there’s a profit (to be paid to TOFS) from whatever you organise!

Would you like our newsletter CHEW? It's free!

Our newsletter Chew is packed full of fundraising stories, inspiration and ideas from our members and supporters. It comes out three times a year and is free to our members. Become a member and receive CHEW for free.

Please send in your photos and stories.  We love to hear of your successes (whether big or small) and share them via Chew with the whole OA / TOF community.

London Marathon and Great North Run

We are always hugely impressed by our amazing runners who train so hard and raise incredible amounts of money for TOFS. This year has been particularly challenging for our runners as, due to coronavirus, both the London Marathon and Great North Run were virtual events.  Read our 2020 runners stories here.
