TOFS Awareness Week - 18th to 26th April 2015

Published: Wed, 7th January 2015, 02:04:00 PM
We challenge you – to raise the profile of TOF/OA and TOFS! TOFS 2015 Awareness Week, 18 – 26 April 2015 may seems like a long way away, but time flies, and this year, we need YOUR help to achieve our Awareness Week goals: Having proof of our TOFS posters displayed in all of the TOF/OA UK Centres Making 60 new health professionals aware of TOF/OA and TOFS A ‘Tea for TOFS’ in every part of the UK! TOFS posters in all of the TOF/OA Centres Thanks to the work of our TLCs and many of you, we know that our posters are already on display in some of the TOF/OA Centres but we need your help to prove it.  We also need you to take the posters to those that don’t yet have them displayed and persuade staff there to put them on their noticeboard. Please join in our Facebook campaign and post a photo of our poster, (with your TOF child perhaps), along with the name of the hospital where the poster is displayed.  If you don’t use Facebook you can still join in – just email the pic to TOFS and we will upload it.  You don’t have to wait until April.  The Facebook campaign will be launched on 1st March and by the end of our Awareness week (26 April) we’re hoping to have photographic proof of the posters displayed in ALL of the centres. The posters can be obtained from the office (email info@tofs.org.uk), or you may download it directly from our website and laminate it yourself. www.tofs.org.uk/news/2014/02/raise-awareness-with-the-tofs-hospital-poster.aspx A list of all the TOF/OA Centres is at the end of this article.  Ideally, we’d like them in all of the outreach hospitals also.  So if you no longer visit a TOF/OA centre, you can still get involved by displaying them at your local hospital.  Please get involved by requesting a poster now. Raising awareness amongst health professionals We know many of you already raise awareness daily in a variety of ways.   This year we have a specific aim of making at least 60 health professionals aware of TOF/OA during Awareness Week but we can’t do this without your help.  ‘Badges for TOFS’ have donated 60 of their badges for TOFS use.  Thank you!  Please ask us for one, (email info@tofs.org.uk) and give it to a health professional who doesn’t yet know about TOFS.  It could be a GP, nurse, health visitor, SALT or physio – we don’t mind – as long as health professionals are getting to know about TOFS and TOF/OA!  You could even send us a photo of your favourite health professional wearing it (with their permission of course) and we could upload them to the ‘members only’ section of our website www.tofs.org.uk.  Please help us to meet our target.  Request a badge now from info@tofs.org.uk Tea for TOFS  Simply invite a few neighbours, family or friends for an afternoon tea, to chat over a hot drink and collect donations for TOFS.  Even just a few people add to those who don’t yet know of TOF/OA.  Again, send us your pics so we can publish them on our website!  Please email us for our tea-party pack now!  We’d love to have them happening all over the UK – please make sure your area is represented. Awareness week will start with our AGM and party on Saturday 18 April.  All members are invited to attend the AGM and party.  They will be held probably in the Nottingham area – but we’ll select a venue with good transport links so that as many of you may attend as possible.  Full details will be emailed closer to the time.  Sunday 26th April will finish Awareness Week with the London Marathon.  Can you come along and cheer? (See report elsewhere in Chew). You will have many more ideas in which you can help, so please do get in touch for our Awareness Week packs and press releases.  Don’t forget, if you haven’t time to get involved in raising awareness you can still publicise or contribute to our text campaign – all donations gratefully received.  Just text ‘TOFS15 £10’ to 70070.
