Join our live Q&A session on applying for benefits for the OA/TOF community

Published: Thu, 27th May 2021, 09:07:00 AM

If you are applying for benefits for yourself as an Adult, or a child with OA/TOF, and want to know how to improve your application, or what you should do if the claim is unsuccessful, then book now for our upcoming online Q&A session!

Taking your questions will be TOF parent Dr Kamran Ahmed, a GP in Wolverhampton, as well as Adult TOF  Dr Caroline Love, Senior Clinical Fellow in Dermatology at York Teaching Hospital, on Tuesday 15 June at 7pm.

Joining them is Heather Doward, a TOFS volunteer with over twenty years’ experience of the welfare system, completing forms for her son, who has OA/TOF.

TOFS' Chair Duncan Jackson will host the session and ask questions on your behalf.  Please feel free to email a question for Dr Kamran Ahmed, Dr Caroline Love and Heather Doward.

Likely questions to be posed are:

  • What’s the difference between PIP and DLA, and which should I apply for?
  • Am I eligible for Carers Allowance?
  • How can I improve my application to get the highest rate of PIP/DLA?
  • Who can I approach for extra help in completing the application as it’s so overwhelming?
  • Who should I ask to complete the professional section of forms?
  • If awarded DLA/PIP what other benefits should I look to claim?
  • What is the process if a claim is rejected or I want to appeal?
  • I don’t know whether I can return to work following maternity leave; what additional support is available for my child?

To book the event, please email us now: info@tofs.org.uk

We can't guarantee all individual questions submitted will be answered, but will group together those most frequently asked.

We will host the Q&A via Zoom webinar, and the joining details will be sent to those who book just before the event.

The session is FREE to members of TOFS, but numbers are limited, so please book your spot today, just email info@tofs.org.uk
