Let's celebrate our wonderful volunteers!

Published: Tue, 1st June 2021, 02:05:00 PM

This week marks the 2021 Volunteers' Week and we'd like to show our appreciation for TOFS' volunteers who are vital to the work that we do.

Did you know that TOFS is governed by our fantastic volunteer council of management?  Not only that, volunteers are at the core of member engagement, here's how they help:

  • TOFS Local Contacts (TLCs) - there are currently 19, are experienced TOF parents who willingly give up their time to provide support to our members.  They also often act as hospital liaisons and run regular virtual support events.
  • TOFS' Birthday Fairy, Sara, sends out handmade cards to all children born with OA/TOF under 6 years of age.
  • The Chew editorial team work tirelessly three times a year to help TOFS deliver our newsletter.
  • TOFS' Facebook group moderators ensure that parents, relatives and Adult TOFS have a safe space to share their experiences of life with OA/TOF.
  • Events Ambassadors, cheer on our much valued fundraisers at charity events like the London Marathon and Great North Run.
  • Plus, members of TOFS' six sub-committees who meet often to discuss topics such as fundraising, pastoral support, medical, conference planning, strategy and projects and support for Adult TOFS.

Want to get involved?  We currently need new TLCs for Hull, Birmingham, Brighton, Oxford, North Wales and Londonderry NI.  We're also on the look out for Facebook Moderators and Events Ambassadors. Email sophie@tofs.org.uk to register your interest and find out more.

A HUGE thank you to all of our volunteers, we're grateful for everything you do!
