In memory of Sandra Hawkins

Published: Thu, 4th November 2021, 03:03:00 PM

We are sorry to have to share the sad news of the passing of Sandra Hawkins.

Sandra’s grandson was born with a long gap oesophageal atresia and when she attended her first TOFS Conference with her family in Nottingham in 2003, she decided that she would like to get more involved.

As a retired Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Sandra brought many skills to TOFS and went on to hold the position of Treasurer until 2012.

Sandra also took on the challenge of organising the national TOFS conferences and was responsible for moving them out of the hospital environment. A move that proved extremely successful, bringing families and health-care professionals together to share knowledge and support. Sandra retired as a Trustee in 2014 after eleven years of service to the charity.

Sandra passed away on the 7th October, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Hon. Chair of TOFS, Duncan Jackson, said “I had the great fortune of working closely with Sandra over a number of years.  Her commitment to the charity was second to none and she really did make a difference. The thoughts of all of us at TOFS are with her family at this sad time.”
