Living with a rare medical condition can impact on social activities, education, employment opportunities and mental health. Families living with a rare medical condition are often faced with isolation and a lack of knowledge and understanding. For each family, the experience of having an ill child is a unique experience and it does impact on everyday life. There is no right way of coping. Families have all the usual stresses of everyday life as well as looking after their ill child.
