40 days of fundraising rides off to a £4k start!

TOFS’ 40 Days of Fundraising got off to a great start last week with the RideLondon 100 cycle event on the 29th May.  Due to Covid, this major bike ride (traffic-free marshalled roads, more than 20000 riders) has not taken place since 2019.

The weather was cool but dry almost all day. The route was just over 100 miles and it went from central London out into the Essex countryside and back again.

TOFS riders Rachel Love, Steve Hardingham, and Paul Williamson all crossed the Tower Bridge finishing line in around 7 hours – tired but (we believe) otherwise OK.

A week after the event, their joint fundraising total has risen to £3820, smashing all the fundraising targets.

Moreover Alison Pearce, using her own place, additionally raised £475.  Husband John (who is a Trustee and our Treasurer) also did the 30 mile short route.

So this event has turned out very well for TOFS and we are already looking forward to next year’s event. If you would like take part in RideLondon 2023, please contact the TOFS office (info@tofs.org.uk) and let us know. There’s no commitment but we will no doubt be asked in the coming months how many places TOFS wants to buy for 2023!
