Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday for our in-person TOFS Seminar in Warrington. Over 90 guests attended the event that aimed to provide valuable insights into the care and management of individuals born with Oesophageal Atresia (OA) and Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula (TOF).
The day began with a warm welcome from Drew Bailey, TOFS Chair, followed by an update from Diane Stephens, TOFS CEO. A range of experts also joined us to shared their knowledge on various aspects of OA/TOF, including:
- Tissue-engineered oesophagus: Natalie Durkin discussed the latest advancements in this field.
- Respiratory care: Rebecca Thursfield provided insights into current best practices.
- Adult care: Chantal ten Kate shared experiences from the Netherlands.
- Gastrointestinal issues: Mr Nick Lansdale explored common complications and management strategies.

In addition to the presentations, attendees had the opportunity to view poster presentations on a variety of topics, including holistic treatment, quality of life, and the role of online support groups. Representatives from other support organisations, Max’s Trust and The VACTERL Association Support Group, were also present to share their experiences.
The TOFS Seminar 2024 was a great opportunity for knowledge sharing and networking and we are already looking forward to the next seminar, scheduled for Saturday 1st March 2025 in Bristol.
